Burghley Park Cricket Club, in Stamford, Lincolnshire, has seen a big transformation over the past couple of years. From one Saturday 1st XI which was struggling to field a side in the 2009 season the Club can now boast a Huntingdonshire Division 2 winning 1st XI, a Sunday Friendly XI and three junior teams at U9, U15 and U17 age groups.
Off the back of the junior success the Burghley Park have been awarded ClubMark accreditation at the recent Huntingdonshire Cricket Board meeting, a great accolade for the hard work and commitment that has gone into the Club in the last 2 years. At the recent NatWest OSCAs they picked up the Huntingdonshire OSCA for their Club Force day, with ex England fast bowler Dean Headley coming along to lend a hand earlier in the season it was a fantastic day preparing the ground for what proved to be a fantastic season.
Burghley Park Cricket Club have also just received a £6,275 grant as part of this
years NatWest Community Force scheme which will go towards building a new grounds
mans shed, Club Captain Chris Meadows would like to thank everyone that voted for
them to win! They even appeared on TV earlier this month as celebrity chef, Jamie
Oliver, came to the ground to prepare the 1st XI their cricket teas! The season culminated
in an end of season awards dinner where the main speaker, ex England, Hampshire and
Middlesex of-
Burghley Park Cricket Club are already looking forward to next season with plans to introduce womens and girls cricket at the Club. For more information visit their website www.BurghleyPark.com.
